At the table
Cooking of the land: pici, tortelli, grilled meat, game, Tuscan pecorino DOP. The hamlet of Sasso d'Ombrone holds the curious and very old Sagra del Capitone — eel from the river Ombrone cooked "alla Barbarossa" over embers — while Monticello Amiata celebrates the chestnut.

Wine and olive oil
Cinigiano is the heart of Montecucco DOC and Montecucco Sangiovese DOCG (at least 90% Sangiovese), the denomination that borders on Brunello di Montalcino: wineries, tastings and the Strada del Vino Montecucco all pass through here. Olive groves complete the landscape with high-hill extra virgin olive oil.
Festivals
The Festa dell'Uva in Cinigiano, in early October, celebrates the grape harvest: tastings, historic procession, drummers, music and local dishes. Together with the Sagra del Capitone in Sasso d'Ombrone and the chestnut festival in Monticello, it makes for an autumn to be eaten.
